Sarah

Bill, Lily, and I

The "Product" Knitter

A Work in "Process"

Hello All!  I'm Sarah Hutchings and I am fairly new to the knitting world.  My life got turned upside down when I gave my life to Jesus in 2008 and I knew I needed some new hobbies, amongst other things.  In 2011, my sister-in-law, Jenn, and I lived together at my in-laws and she was patient enough to teach me how to knit and I haven't stopped knitting since!

Along with knitting, I LOVE spending time with my little family. My husband, Bill, is my rock and my balance, and my little Bear, Lily, is the light of our lives!
Me and my Bear
I have been so blessed in this life!  Jesus has given me so much and I have learned so much just by knowing Him.  I came into the Knit and Purl Gurls through Wendy!  She was inviting me for weeks and finally in November of 2014, I started attending the group and, just like with knitting, I have kept doing it!!!

I call myself a "product" knitter because I am all about the end result.  I enjoy knitting, but I like to have something to show for it!  I have come a long, long, way because if I did not like how a project is going I have been known to throw it in the trash....much to the dismay of my fellow knitters.

Presents!

I will conclude by saying this, I am constantly on the go and this group has allowed me, on some level, to slow down.  I have learned that knitting is not just all about the product, but it is also about the process.  Just like in life, sometimes we need to slow down, be in the moment, and realize God is in control!  Matthew 6:31-33 says,
"So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

And yes, there will be tangled yarn, dropped stitches, and hard-to-learn patterns, but God did not promise us an easy life.  He said in John 16:33:

"I have told you these things, so that you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world."

I know that I am no longer alone and He has brought me into fellowship with other believers, and that is what the Knit and Purl Gurls are all about, knitting together for the Love of Christ!
