The "7 WIPS" knitter
A project for every mood
W.I.P.s - Works in Progress. I like to have a variety of projects going at the same time, and work on them as the mood strikes.
Hi all, my name is Kym, and that is my husband James in the photo with me. One of the co-hosts of this blog (Megan) is my ♥daughter♥.
In August of 2013, Megan's good friend since high school, Wendy, and I discovered our mutual love of knitting during a vacation we went on in Cape Cod.
Wendy had been knitting for many years, and I was a new knitter at the time. I think that the fun we had sharing our knitting time, influenced Megan to give knitting a try.
Knitting on our Cape Cod Vacation 2013 |
Shortly after our vacation, the three of us began knitting together every other Friday between 4 and 7 p.m. Megan and Wendy's daughters (also good friends) often joined us to play. We rotated the gathering between our homes. Whosoever hosted, also provided a dinner meal for everyone.
When Sarah and her daughter joined us, our group really clicked (knitting pun intended). All four of us have different knitting interests, styles, and strengths, but we are united in our Christian faith.
A little background about me:
As a newborn Christian with my children |
At 32 years old I became a Christian. At the time, I was newly divorced, had moved 300 miles away from everyone I knew, working, and struggling to provide for my two children and myself. It seems God often reaches us at our lowest point. Providentially, we moved to a farmhouse in the country, right next door to a Christian family who took us to a Christian fellowship. Despite our financial difficulties, those years were good ones. We had a huge productive garden, were given a pony, became part of a wonderful, close, fellowship family, and most excitingly saw God prove Himself large on our behalf. I was hungry for God's Word, and studied it every morning, a habit which I've maintained to this day.
Our 3 grands a few years ago |
In the years that followed, I remarried (a Christian man I met at a fellowship picnic), raised my daughter and son, and welcomed three granddaughters into the world. James and I also have six step-grandchildren between us. It has been an up and down journey - sometimes a mountaintop experience, sometimes trudging through a valley. But through both the challenging and the rewarding times, God has made Himself known, and I am very thankful.
