My name is Wendy. I first learned to knit when I was 12 years old. My dear elderly neighbor, Janet, taught me. I started a scarf, and didn't pick up knitting again until my 20's.
I found knitting comforting, as I learned again how to knit from nurses in a hospital, during a long bout with illness. I have been knitting away through the years, almost always finding it comforting, and relaxing.
Then, a few years ago, a few of my close friends and I formed the knit and purl gurls. It is only since then that I have learned how to follow patterns, or knit anything at all complicated.
We have lovely times together at "knitting night " every other week. We increase our faith in God, and our knitting skills at the same time. Knitting night has been a great place of refuge for me.
As I knit a stitch, I remember that "God is Love". Nothing pleases me more than to be sober, and rooted in faith. Knitting is a tangible sign of my wellness.
